Falling Back is a mechanic in which the player retreats to a different position, after having no troops on field 10 seconds after a new wave has spawned, if sufficient enemies have bypassed the players' line, or if the player manually calls a retreat through the Fallback Decision. Players are given three positions to defend, and may fallback from A to B and from B to C. Falling Back is specific to the Defense in Depth mode.
Upon falling back, players will be granted additional Command Points based on the number of surviving troops the player have on field. The fewer soldiers the player has remaining, the more Command Points will be allocated to the player. In addition, the likelihood of enemy Banzai Charges and the number of enemies spawned per wave are both reduced, again dependent on the number of soldiers the player has after falling back.
